How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Bring Reassurance. Empower Independence.

At Hft, a leading social care provider, we stand alongside learning-disabled adults, empowering them to live life their way. As a Casual Night Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring people feel safe, supported, and comfortable throughout the night. On a typical evening you will be sleeping in at one of our homes and you may well not be disturbed throughout the night. However, if one of the people we support needs you during the night, you may be required to be awake and on duty for a few minutes or a couple of hours.

This is more than just being present; it’s about creating a calm, reassuring environment where people can rest well, maintain their routines, and wake ready to live the way they choose. We are looking for individuals who are able to complete one to two sleep in shifts every week. There may be additional daytime hours available covering sickness or annual leave.

You’ll receive £49.08 for each sleep in shift. If you are awake and on duty for more than an hour, you will be paid at the hourly rate of £12.51 + 10% waking night premium (£13.76). This casual colleague agreement will also allow you to work additional daytime hours to cover sickness or annual leave at the hourly rate of £12.51 + 10% waking night premium (£13.76).

    What You’ll Be Doing

Every night is different, but your role focuses on empowering independence, choice, and dignity:

    * Sleeping in at the service to provide reassurance to the residents

    * If required, provide safe, attentive, and person-centred support throughout the night, ensuring comfort, dignity, and wellbeing.

    * Respond calmly and proactively to any needs, whether that’s offering reassurance, supporting with personal care, or handling unexpected situations.

    * Monitor and record wellbeing, following care plans and reporting any concerns to the daytime team to ensure seamless support.

    * Promote independence wherever possible, encouraging confidence in night-time routines and decision-making.

    * Create a safe, positive environment where individuals can rest well and wake ready to achieve their goals the next day.

    * Work collaboratively with colleagues, ensuring consistency and continuity of care between day and night teams.

    Who you are

You’re passionate about standing alongside learning-disabled adults and supporting them to live life their way. You’ll bring:

    * Patience, supportiveness, and respect for people’s choices

    * A positive, encouraging approach that celebrates achievement

    * Strong communication skills to build trusting relationships

    * Confidence providing personal support when it’s needed

    * Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, waking and sleep-in shifts

    * Availability to complete occasional day time shifts to complete training or attend team meetings etc

    * Experience in social care is welcome but not essential; your attitude and values matter most

    Life at Hft

Joining Hft means becoming part of a warm, inclusive team that values both your wellbeing and the impact you make. We believe every learning-disabled adult should have the chance to live the best life possible, and that begins with supporting our colleagues.

Our values guide everything we do: we’re diverse and inclusive, kind and compassionate, positive and solution-focused, and visionary about what the best life possible can look like. Here, your work has real purpose. You’ll be part of a welcoming team that values what you bring, supports your growth, and ensures you feel included and appreciated every step of the way.

    What We Offer

    * A role with real impact, where your work empowers others.

    * A warm, supportive, and inclusive team culture.

    * A role with real impact, where your work empowers others.

    * Access to award-winning training and career development

    * Flexible pay options via Wagestream

    * Wellbeing support including Digital GP, counselling, and mental health services

    * Discounts on mobiles, life assurance, and referral rewards

If this sounds like the kind of role where you can thrive, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and play a vital role in empowering learning disabled adults to live the life they choose.

Accessibility: We believe everyone should have the support they need to succeed.
