How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HGV Technician

    Pay: Circa £18 per hour (depending on experience) + overtime
    Hours: 45 hours per week | Monday–Friday, 07:30–17:00
    Contract: Full-time, permanent (6-month probation)
    Start Date: ASAP

    We are recruiting an experienced HGV Technician on behalf of a well-established UK specialist in refuse and waste collection vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing operation offering long-term stability, competitive pay, and genuine career progression.

    The Role

    You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a range of HGV refuse vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

    Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on HGV vehicles

    *

    Diagnose faults and complete mechanical repairs

    *

    Repair or replace damaged and worn components

    *

    Conduct road tests to ensure repairs are effective

    *

    Respond to unscheduled repairs and safety checks

    *

    Fit and service vehicle accessories such as radios and alarms

    *

    Complete servicing and maintain accurate service records

    Key Skills & Experience

    *

    Previous experience within a service or vehicle maintenance environment

    *

    Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills

    *

    Ability to work effectively as part of a team

    *

    Well organised with excellent attention to detail

    *

    Full UK driving licence required

    *

    HGV Class 2 licence desirable but not essential
