Job Title: Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer
Location: Peterborough
Shift: Permanent Night Shift (Continental 3’s & 2’s pattern)
Salary: £50,000 - £54,000 + Overtime
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Multi-skilled Shift Engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will suit someone who is confident working across both mechanical and electrical disciplines, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of specialist production equipment. The role combines reactive breakdown support with planned maintenance and continuous improvement work, offering plenty of variety and technical challenge.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on factory equipment (mechanical and electrical)
Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime
Liaise closely with production teams to ensure efficient workflow and minimal disruption
Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
Assist and supervise external contractors on site
Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering projects
What We’re Looking for in a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer
Experience working in a multi-skilled engineering role within a manufacturing environment
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills (18th edition would be ideal)
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively on shift
Confident communicator who can collaborate across teams
A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Willingness to learn and develop professionally
