How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Business Development Manager - Construction - Affordable Housing/Local Authorities/Fire Safety Contacts - Essex/London.

    The Company

    My client are part of an established construction group.

    They offer a turnkey service, managing projects from design optimisation through to installation, ensuring fire safety compliance and exceptional craftsmanship.

    The group place a very strong emphasis on individuals development within the company, which has led to a low staff turnover.

    HQ based in Essex, with a satellite office in London.

    Business Development Manager - Affordable Housing/Local Authorities/Fire Safety/ Housing Associations contacts

    Due to continued growth, my client are looking for a strategic Business Development Manager, to help the growing construction business unlock and expand its presence within the public sector/affordable housing (e.g. securing works for recladding/remediation)

    This role is ideal for someone with an established network across local authorities, housing associations and wider decision makers.

    * Previous experience in a Business Development Manager role, within the construction industry.

    * Strong experience working with local authorities and housing associations, with a well-developed "black book of contacts"

    * Excellent relationship builder and networker.

    * Background in construction, building services, remediation, fire safety, façades, or related technical environments is desirable.

    * Consultative approach, understanding how to sell project-led solutions and build long-term trust

    * Someone who can bring structure around BD planning, KPIs, pipeline discipline, and market strategy.

    Hybrid Working Pattern

    * Monday – Essex (BD catch-ups, internal meetings, afternoon brainstorming sessions)

    * Tuesday–Thursday – London (client meetings & on-the-ground BD activity)

    * Friday – Flexible (London / Essex / home depending on meetings)
