How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Company
    A well-established engineering business is looking to recruit an Applications Design Engineer to join their team. This is a key position supporting both technical and commercial activities, with a strong focus on customer interaction and engineering design.

    Key Responsibilities

    Support customers with technical queries, RFQs, and application requirements

    Produce and maintain accurate engineering drawings and documentation

    Work closely with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery

    Prepare quotations in line with company margins and support contract reviews

    Act as a key technical point of contact for customers, providing guidance and problem-solving support

    Manage communication around pricing, lead times, and technical specifications

    Lead the implementation of DriveWorks within the business

    Take ownership of the system, including configuration, rules, and workflows

    Develop automation for drawings, BOMs, models, and quotations

    Work cross-functionally to define inputs, constraints, and outputs

    Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and increased automation

    Ensure compliance with company procedures and Health & Safety standards

    Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering and production processes

    The Candidate

    Mechanical Engineering background preferred

    Experience working with engineering drawings and design processes

    Strong technical and commercial awareness

    Understanding of manufacturing or precision engineering environments

    Confident communicator with customer-facing experience

    Proactive, organised, and able to manage workload effectively

    Interest or experience in design automation

    Salary
    £35,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
