How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.

    Salary: £46,587.88 basic pay per annum (inclusive of 35% holiday bonus) plus 33 days holiday per year (25 vacation and 8 bank holidays) potential earnings up to £59,299.54 detailed below in shift pattern information
    GPW Recruitment are partnering with Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd (FHTL) in Halewood to recruit a Metrology Engineer / Measurement Room Specialist
    Ford Halewood Transmission Limited (FHTL) develops and manufactures transmissions with an employee workforce of circa 700 people. The Plant has a proud 60-year history as a local employer and are dedicated to manufacturing high quality products. Ford are currently investing up to £230 million at the facility to transform it to build electric power units for future Ford all-electric passenger and commercial vehicles.
    The role
    As the Metrology Engineer / Measurement Room Specialist, you will be part of the plant Quality Department and be responsible for working in both metrology and metallurgical laboratories measuring internal and externally purchased components and supporting the maintenance of measurement systems. You will work with a varied range of teams including engineers, management, production, and maintenance personnel to deliver projects and services which support an advanced automotive manufacturing environment transforming into a world leader in electric vehicle powertrains.

    Hours:
    Currently working a 3 shift system;
    Earlies: Monday: 6.30am- 3pm Tuesday - Thursday: 7am - 3pm Friday: 7am - 12pm
    Lates: Monday - Thursday: 3pm - 11pm Friday: 12pm-5.30pm
    Nights: Monday - Thursday: 11pm - 7am Friday: 5.30pm - 11pm
    Where you’ll receive a 27.5% shift allowance, you will need to be flexible to work any shift pattern aligned with business requirements. Halewood’s standard hours of work are Monday to Thursday 7:00-15:30 and Friday 7:00-12:30
    Qualifications and Experience required by the Metrology Engineer / Measurement Room Specialist
    * Completed Mechanical/Electrical apprenticeship and an HNC/HND equivalent in a relevant subject.
    * Good knowledge of measurement principles and processes.
    * Background in metrology laboratory measurement preferable
    * Computer literacy - good knowledge of Word, Excel.
    * Strong communication skills.
    * The ability to read engineering drawings.
    * Self-motivated, adaptable and willingness to learn.
    * Proven ability to work in a Team including self-motivated and flexible.
    * Good understanding of 5S and workplace organisation.
    * Experience with CMM, calibration, programming, GDT (Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
    External training will be provided to gain further experience, along with a comprehensive internal training plan.
    Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
    * Support commissioning of new measurement equipment.
    * Measurement of Internal and external purchased components using laboratory equipment.
    * Support the development of test methods and continuous improvement opportunities
    * Produce measurement reports for components measured.
    * Assist with Quality investigations providing measuring support.
    * Be able to work within a team to ensure tasks are in line with targets.
