How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Company

Our client is a global leader in providing world‑class loading and unloading solutions to logistics, manufacturing, FMCG, and parcel handling organisations. They design, manufacture, install, and service both automatic and manual loading systems from facilities in the UK, USA, and the Netherlands.

    The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the ongoing performance, reliability, and safety of our clients’ systems. Working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team, you’ll carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, repairs, and improvement initiatives across customer sites.

You’ll also take part in a call‑out rota and support installations and maintenance activities across the UK and occasionally overseas.

    Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical faults

Identify and recommend improvements to equipment and maintenance processes

Participate in the service and call‑out rota

Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with Health & Safety legislation

Maintain accurate records, reports, and professional written communication

Liaise with engineering, operations, and customer teams to support innovation and continuous improvement

Effectively manage workload, time, and priorities

Report incidents, accidents, and near misses promptly, contributing to preventative strategies

    Health & Safety

Comply with all company, client, and statutory Health & Safety policies

Follow safe working practices, COSHH, fire, hygiene, and site rules

Remain aware of site‑specific hazards and actively promote a safe working environment

    Training & Development

Attend performance development reviews (PDRs) and take ownership of your ongoing training

Participate in company and legislative training as required

    Additional Responsibilities

Provide support to other UK and international sites when required

Safeguard company and client property and equipment

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues

Escalate issues and customer concerns appropriately

Share best practices and process improvements across the team

    About You

    Essential Qualifications & Experience

City & Guilds qualification or completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering

Proven experience in a similar engineering environment (e.g. logistics, FMCG, manufacturing, or parcel handling) working with Conveyor systems

Strong background in delivering PPM schedules, KPIs, and services on customer sites

Experience working in environments with robust permit‑to‑work systems

Technically competent in mechanical and electrical systems within distribution or sortation environments would be ideal

    Desirable Technical Experience

    * Confident producing reports and written documentation

    * Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

    * Willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally abroad

    * Ability to build long‑term, trusted relationships with customers

    What’s on Offer

    * Full product/systems training

    * Opportunity to work with industry‑leading technology

    * Ongoing training and career development

    * Varied and challenging role with autonomy and responsibility

    * Collaborative and supportive engineering team

    * Competitive salary and benefits package (dependent on experience)
