How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well established, globally operating Manufacturing and Engineering organisation based in Helsby. This role will play a key part in maintaining equipment reliability, supporting production efficiency, and contributing to ongoing Engineering improvements across multiple sites.

    The successful Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be based primarily at the Helsby site, with regular support required across two additional sites in Stockport. A full UK driving licence is therefore essential.

    This is a hands on engineering role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, offering exposure to modern automated production systems, machinery upgrades, and continuous improvement activity. The business is actively investing in its operations, creating opportunities for development and involvement in improvement projects.

    Flexibility is an important part of this role, and working patterns may be adjusted from time to time to support business and operational needs. Should structured shift working be introduced, this will be supported with enhanced shift allowances, providing additional earning potential alongside wider operational exposure.

    Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience), plus potential shift allowance.
    Hours: Monday–Thursday 07:30–16:00, Friday 07:30–12:50 (38 hours per week).

    As part of this role, your main duties as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer will include:

    * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support on production equipment.

    * Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults on automated manufacturing machinery to minimise downtime.

    * Working with Siemens PLC controlled systems, carrying out fault diagnosis and troubleshooting control issues.

    * Interpreting and working from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support structured fault finding and repair.

    * Maintaining and repairing industrial electrical systems including motors, drives (VSDs/inverters), sensors, encoders, relays, and control panels.

    * Supporting installation, commissioning, and upgrade activities for new and existing machinery.

    * Working closely with production teams to restore equipment performance quickly and effectively.

    * Contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the site.

    * Providing engineering support across Helsby and two additional Stockport sites as required.

    * Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety standards and engineering best practice.

    * Recording maintenance activity, breakdown data, and equipment performance information accurately.

    * Involvement in machinery upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement projects.

    * Adhere to Health and Safety Standards.

    Requirements:

    * Time served Electrical Maintenance Engineer with a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent industrial engineering background.

    * HNC / HND / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.

    * Strong experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial maintenance environment.

    * Proven electrical fault finding experience on automated machinery.

    * Working knowledge of Siemens PLC systems advantageous (or similar industrial PLC platforms).

    * Ability to confidently interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

    * Experience working with industrial control systems including motors, drives, sensors, and automation equipment.

    * Strong breakdown and planned preventative maintenance experience.

    * Full UK driving licence is essential due to travel between Helsby and Stockport sites.

    * Flexibility to support changes in working patterns in line with business and operational needs.

    Electrical Maintenance Engineer Benefits:

    * Opportunity to join a growing, investment focused manufacturing organisation.

    * Ongoing training and technical development opportunities.

    * Pension scheme.

    * Health Shield scheme.

    * Group Life Assurance.

    * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
