How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Systems Engineer for an Inside IR35 contract with a West Midlands organisation, providing 2nd‑line support, Microsoft 365 administration, and infrastructure management in a hybrid environment. PAYE/Umbrella only, competitive rate, ASAP start, with a mixture of remote and on‑site presence across multiple a handful of West Midlands locations as required.

    Client Details

    Our client, a well‑established not‑for‑profit organisation operating across the West Midlands, is seeking an experienced IT Engineer on an initial 4 month contract basis, with likely extension towards the end of 2026.
    Based in Birmingham, they are expanding their technology estate, and investing heavily into upscaling their Modern Workplace environment and core infrastructure.
    This role sits within a modern Microsoft‑led ICT environment and will focus on 2nd‑line operational support, infrastructure administration, and technical escalation, while supporting a Tier 1 Service Desk.
    This assignment is Inside IR35 and will operate on a PAYE or umbrella basis.Description

    As the IT Systems Engineer you will provide 2nd‑line support and resolution of escalated ICT incidents.
    Deliver day‑to‑day systems and network administration across cloud and on‑prem infrastructure.
    Monitor and support critical ICT services, identifying and addressing performance and security issues.
    Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 and associated services.
    Support infrastructure upgrades and technical project delivery.
    Act as an escalation point and provide guidance to Tier 1 Service Desk colleagues.
    Promote best‑practice use of digital tools and systems.Profile

    As the successful candidate for the IT Systems Engineer role, you will have proven experience in:

    A 2nd‑line IT Systems Engineer / Systems Administration contract role.
    Comfortable working in an Inside IR35 engagement on a PAYE or umbrella basis.
    Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
    Flexible to travel to the main site in Birmingham, and two other sites in the West Midlands where required.

    You will have strong, recent experience across the Microsoft stack, including:

    Microsoft 365 (advanced administration)
    Active Directory & Azure AD / Entra ID
    Exchange Online
    SharePoint Online
    Group Policy Management
    Microsoft Intune & Autopilot
    Infrastructure administration and monitoring

    Desirable experience:

    Azure cloud services
    Hyper‑V / virtualisation
    LAN, WAN, VPNs and networking fundamentalsJob Offer
