How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The below job description will outline this position of: Installation & Commissioning Engineer

    Typically, this person will be responsible for the installation, configuration and commissioning of security systems including CCTV, intruder alarms and access control systems across a range of commercial, local authority and domestic sites. The role will involve ensuring all systems are installed to a high standard, fully operational and handed over to the client with full functionality and understanding.

    HSB Technical’s client is an established and well-regarded business with over 45 years of experience, known for its strong customer relationships and supportive team environment.

    Duties and responsibilities of the Installation & Commissioning Engineer:

    • Installation of CCTV, intruder alarm and access control systems across various sites
    • Commissioning and testing of systems to ensure full functionality and compliance
    • Fault finding during installation and commissioning phases
    • Completion of electronic job sheets and accurate reporting of work carried out
    • Liaising with customers on-site to ensure a professional handover and client satisfaction
    • Identifying opportunities for system upgrades or additional works and feeding back to management

    Qualifications and requirements for the Installation & Commissioning Engineer:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the fire and security industry
    • Proven experience installing and commissioning CCTV, intruder alarms and access control systems
    • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive, can-do attitude
    • Full UK driving licence
    • Willingness to undergo BS7858 security screening including enhanced DBS and police check
