How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mobile Electrician

    Location: Southampton and surrounding areas
    Salary: £40,000 basic
    Contract Type: Full‑time, permanent

    Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Electrician to join a well‑established and steadily growing business covering Southampton and the wider local area. This is a long‑term, permanent opportunity offering stability, consistent work, and a strong work‑life balance, with no call‑out rota and optional overtime available.

The role is largely installation‑focused, so it would suit someone who enjoys structured, planned work and takes pride in delivering high‑quality installations rather than dealing with constant reactive or emergency jobs.

    The Role

In this position, you will be carrying out a range of domestic electrical installation works across residential properties. You will be expected to work confidently on both first and second fix installations, ensuring all work is completed to current regulations and company standards.

You will be trusted to manage your own workload on site, maintain a professional approach when dealing with customers, and complete all relevant testing, certification and paperwork accurately. There is also the opportunity to broaden your skill set, with exposure to additional technologies such as heating controls and Solar PV installations.

    Key Responsibilities

Completing domestic electrical installations across residential properties
Carrying out 1st and 2nd fix work to a high standard
Ensuring all work complies with 18th Edition regulations
Testing, inspecting and completing certification as required
Assisting with or installing heating control systems where applicable
Completing all job paperwork accurately and on time
Representing the company professionally while working in customers' homes

    Required Experience & Qualifications

5+ years' experience working as a qualified electrician
Apprentice trained, holding NVQ Level 3 and AM2
    18th Edition qualification (essential)
Solid background in domestic installation work
    Full UK driving licence
Comfortable working independently and managing installations on site

    Desirable (Not Essential)

    2391 Inspection & Testing qualification
ECS Gold Card, which is considered a strong advantage
Experience working with heating control systems
Exposure to Solar PV installations (training can be provided, making this a great opportunity for upskilling)

    Package & Benefits

    £40,000 basic salary
Company van provided, along with a fuel card
No call‑out rota, supporting a healthy work‑life balance
Optional overtime available for those looking to increase earnings
Ongoing training and development opportunities, particularly around renewables
Long‑term, stable employment with consistent workload

    Working Hours

Monday to Friday, standard working hours
    Overtime available but entirely optional

    Location & Coverage

Work is based primarily around Southampton and the surrounding local areas
No requirement for excessive travel or overnight stays
