How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Cover Supervisor - Secondary Schools, Barnsley

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to support a range of secondary schools across Barnsley to work in our partnership schools.

    This is a fantastic opportunity whether you're considering a career in teaching, returning to education, or simply looking for rewarding, flexible work. We offer a variety of placements including day-to-day supply, short-term assignments, and longer-term roles within our partnership schools.

    The Role:
    As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged and on task with the work that has been set. You'll play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students' progress.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials to classes across a range of subjects
    Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
    Ensure a calm, productive, and respectful learning environment
    Provide support and guidance to students where needed
    Report back to teaching staff on student engagement and any issues
    Adapt confidently to different schools and classroom settingsRequirements:

    Experience working with young people (e.g. education, coaching, youth work, or similar)
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively
    A flexible and adaptable approach to work
    Confidence in leading a classroom independently
    A genuine interest in education and supporting student development
