How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teacher (STEM) | Barnet, London | September 2026
    Start Date: 01/09/2026
    Contract: Full Time, Temporary
    Salary: £41,935 – £56,154 per annum (M3–U3)
    Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary is applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to U3.

Teach Now is proud to present an exciting opportunity for a SEN Teacher (STEM) to join a forward-thinking special academy in Barnet, supporting students aged 11–19 with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.

    This is more than just a teaching role — it’s a chance to lead, innovate, and shape a meaningful, real-world curriculum that prepares young people for life beyond school. You will take a lead role in delivering and developing a hands-on, practical STEM curriculum across Key Stages 3–5, tailored to meet the diverse needs of students in a supportive SEND environment.

    • A well-established special academy with approximately 195 students aged 11–19

    Key Responsibilities
    • Deliver engaging, hands-on STEM lessons including science, horticulture, food technology, and design technology
    • Lead the development of a functional and accessible STEM curriculum across KS3–KS5
    • Ensure safe delivery of practical subjects, including risk assessments and health & safety compliance
    • Support students in achieving relevant accreditations (e.g. Functional Skills, vocational qualifications)
    • Adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of SEND needs
    • Mentor and support colleagues through coaching and best practice sharing
    • Build strong partnerships with families, external agencies, and vocational providers

    What We’re Looking For
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
    • Experienced teacher (M3–U3) with a STEM specialism
    • Proven experience working with students with SEND, including autism and complex needs - essential
    • Strong understanding of approaches such as sensory integration, SCERTS, and trauma-informed practice
    • Ability to deliver highly differentiated, engaging, and accessible lessons
    • A compassionate, resilient, and patient approach
    • Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
