How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

At Warburtons, family is at the heart of our business. Five generations' worth of expertise that goes into making our bakery products allows us to continue a tradition of baking inherited over the past 150 years.

Warburtons is the largest bakery brand in the UK, but that doesn't allow us to rest on our laurels. We are pioneers of the industry and ambitious market leaders, always seeking to challenge ourselves and convention. It is part of our philosophy to provide honest good sense on issues of health and well-being, helping the whole family to enjoy our products as part of a healthy, balanced diet, through a range of products to suit all meal occasions, lifestyles and tastes.

As ‘the UK’s No. 1 Bakery Brand’ we have been baking bread since 1876. Today, we are proudly a fifth-generation family, with the introduction of the sixth generation, supplying over 18,000 retail customers from 11 bakeries and 16 depots, producing a range of over 70 products including gluten and wheat free. Family and values are what makes us different, and we are a proud bunch, join us and you too could be proud to be Warburtons.

    The Recipe

Safety is our number one priority. As part of the site leadership team, you’ll partner with the Site Lead to strengthen our HSE culture across a complex, 24/7 food manufacturing environment. You’ll coach, influence and enable our colleagues at our new bakery, 41 Bakery —supporting them to ensure they go home safe, every day, while protecting the environment.

    The Role

Deliver our national HSE strategy locally—turn policy into practice, embed best‑in‑class standards and keep us compliant with legal and company requirements.
Be the trusted expert—give timely, pragmatic and legally robust advice to line managers on all things Health, Safety and Environment.
Coach and upskill—identify site HSE learning needs (bakery & depot), build cost‑effective training with our TL&D partners, and raise capability at every level.
Drive continuous improvement—own the loop from risk assessments and audits through to action closure; learn from accidents/incidents and prevent reoccurrence.
Own our HSE management systems—monitor performance against Warburtons’ HSE framework, recommend improvements, and contribute to company‑wide projects.
Lead engagement—run initiatives that boost commitment to HSE, from shopfloor to SLT, and measure progress through KPIs, audits and project delivery.
Manage the numbers—keep local HSE spend on budget and focused on high‑impact risk reduction.
Grow others—line manage and develop a small team of HSE Advisors, setting clear goals and celebrating success.

    Essential Ingredients

Experience: 2+ years in a dedicated HSE role (FMCG or manufacturing/distribution ideal), including hands‑on audit handling with internal & external parties.
Qualifications: NEBOSH Certificate (minimum). NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards) strongly preferred.
Professional status: IOSH—Chartered (CMIOSH) or working towards.
Environment: IEMA Environmental Foundation certificate, for permitted sites IEMA Associate Certificate
Standards savvy: Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (or OHSAS 18001 heritage) management systems.
Influence & communication: Clear, persuasive and impactful—able to build credibility fast with colleagues at all levels and external stakeholders.
Problem‑solving mindset: You find safe, compliant, business‑smart solutions—promoting safety as an enabler, not a blocker.
Decisive & accountable: Make timely calls, own the outcome, and keep momentum.

    Extra Dough

Last but by no means least, you'll want to know what your breads worth.

A slice of the annual profits (discretionary profit share)
Family time is important to us so as well as your holiday entitlement, we'll give you the opportunity to purchase up to an extra weeks annual leave
Award winning pension scheme with company contributions
Private medical insurance and life assurance
Products you will love along with deals and discounts for you and the family through our Extra Dough website
Continued investment in your personal development
Fully stocked kitchens filled with our delicious products for you to enjoy with your daily brew!
Support for your health and wellbeing, including access to free physiotherapy, 24/7 access to a confidential helpline for practical advice and a comprehensive occupational health service

We respect and value difference. We look to create an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. Companies that are diverse in age, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, or any other aspect which makes them unique, are proven to be better companies. More importantly, creating an environment where everyone, from any background, can do their best work, is the right thing to do
