How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you an aspiring Software & Controls Engineer, Automation & Controls Engineer, or an Electrical Engineer looking to further your career? 

    Due to the further investment, we have an opportunity for an aspiring Software and Controls Engineer at our new bakery site, 41 Bakery, in Wakefield. Working in a day-based role as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you’ll be keen to acquire the skills needed to deliver automation improvement solutions and find and rectify faults on control systems. 

    The Recipe  

    You’ll be responsible for automation and controls onsite, maintaining all software, hardware infrastructure and control systems. You’ll also identify and complete continuous improvement projects to increase plant efficiency, reduce downtime and save energy and associated costs. 

    As a key member of the engineering department, you’ll be encouraged and supported to foster new ideas and perspectives whilst driving change at pace.  

    We promote a culture of continuous improvement whilst working on a changing approach to reliability centred maintenance in a highly automated production facility. 

    The Role  

    Safety - Adherence to relevant safety standard across all activities (including external contractors). Ensure plant controls are safe to operate, maintain and personnel conform to health & safety legislation, policies and standards.
    Drive a proactive Engineering Continuous Improvement culture cross-functionally. Through contributing to the improvement and development of manufacturing hardware & software activities 
    Through effective software and hardware management processes, supports and manages site implementation of a engineering reliability strategy.  
    Managing obsolete equipment on site and ensuring effective capital plans are in place
    Upskilling / supporting Engineers to an agreed working knowledge of PLC’s
    Apprentice mentoring
    Compliance with quality and food safety legislation, company standards and specifications in order to meet the requirements of professional and legal standards.  

    Essential Ingredients  

    This is a day-based role working Monday to Friday.

    You’ll have a strong drive to identify opportunities for equipment improvement using plant-based automation and related solutions to help improve efficiency and performance.

    Formal electrical automation training with an awareness of process and mechanical engineering.
    Experience in fault finding and maintaining existing control systems, preferably with Siemens, Schneider or Allen Bradley 
    Experience of software development and common programming languages 
    Knowledge of communication protocols and control networks 
    Knowledge and experience of project implementation preferably in a manufacturing environment
    Knowledge and experience of safety related parts of control systems
    H&S/Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge e.g. PUWER, IOSH – able to ensure a safe working environment.
    Experience of improvements resulting in a reduction of breakdowns or increased efficiency
    Experience of working in an FMCG / Manufacturing environment - would be preferable
