How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We're working with a well-established contractor to find a Project Manager or Trainee Project Manager to join their marine and civils division. This is a broad delivery role spanning the full project lifecycle from planning and mobilisation through construction and handover in a marine and civils environment (delivery both as principal and subcontractor). The project scope typically involves surveying work, sheet piled solutions, demolition, piling works, welding and defence. Projects will range in value from £100k to £2.5m.

    This position is fully office based. Giving you a genuine work-life balance that's rare in construction. Rather than being tied to site hours, early starts, or overnight travel, you'll coordinate your own diary and visit projects and clients at times that suit the programme and your schedule. You'll operate from a professional office environment, managing your portfolio of projects with autonomy and flexibility. Site visits are purposeful and planned, not a daily obligation.

    This position is well suited to a seasoned Project Manager with marine experience or a career Engineer who is looking to step away from site and progress into management – ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience.

    You will work with the Operations Managers to oversee the commercial aspects of each project, including forecasts, compensation events and contractual obligations. Alongside this, you'll lead site teams, subcontractors and maintain strong client relationships.

    Experience and skills needed:

    * Minimum of HNC/HND in Construction / Civil Engineering

    * Proven NEC3/NEC4 contract experience (JCT exposure is a bonus)

    * A track record of delivering civils or environmental projects

    * Strong commercial acumen, forecasting, valuations and change management

    * Experience leading site teams and managing subcontractors

    * Full UK Driving Licence

    This role offers long term progression in a business in which you will work closely with the senior leadership and play an active role in wider business development, including bids and tenders
