Director of Clinical Services
Spire Parkway Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director of Clinical Services to join the hospital's executive leadership team on a full‑time basis. This is a pivotal, role with responsibility for providing visible clinical leadership, strategic direction and operational oversight across clinical services. Reporting directly to the Hospital Director, the postholder will play a critical role in driving quality, safety, performance and sustainable growth, ensuring the hospital continues to deliver outstanding patient care within a robust governance and regulatory framework.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide overall clinical leadership and operational management across all clinical and non‑clinical service areas, as agreed with the postholder
Promote a cost‑effective, patient‑focused quality service to support the ongoing success of Spire Healthcare
Maintain a strong focus on business performance, balancing high‑quality healthcare delivery with sound financial management
Lead and implement the hospital's clinical strategy, contributing to and supporting the wider hospital business strategy in line with corporate direction
Deputise for the Hospital Director as required
Set, maintain and embed clinical practice standards within a strong governance and regulatory framework
Develop, implement and share evidence‑based clinical practice
Communicate and manage complex, sensitive or contentious information effectively
Drive continual professional development by developing own knowledge and facilitating learning across teams
Foster a working environment and culture that actively improves health, safety and security
Develop and implement strategies and policies to support service improvement within an evolving corporate agenda
Ensure quality is maintained to agreed standards within the operating model
Promote and influence a culture that actively celebrates diversity and inclusion
Provide transformational leadership, using expert knowledge and personal influence to drive change
Delegate effectively, aligned to knowledge, skills and capabilities, using sound management practices
Work in partnership with the Hospital Director and consultant body to deliver the Annual Operating Plan and clinical strategy
Lead and manage all human resource activities for clinical teams, including workforce planning, performance and engagement
Act as Caldicott Guardian, ensuring the confidentiality, safeguarding and appropriate governance of patient information
Act as Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) for the hospitalWho we're looking for:
Degree level qualification (highly desirable)
Registered with an appropriate Health Professional Regulator (e.g. NMC, HCPC, GPC)
Extensive senior‑level clinical leadership experience, supported by strong management capability
Evidence of substantial post‑registration and continual professional development in both clinical and management‑related disciplines
Demonstrated ability to make complex operational judgements, manage conflicting views and reconcile professional differences
A proven leader who consistently delivers high‑performance, patient‑centred services
Commercially astute, with the ability to think strategically, plan tactically and execute effectively
Credible, confident and influential leader, able to operate effectively at executive and consultant levelContract: Permanent, Full Time
