How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer
    Basingstoke, Hampshire
    £45,000 - £50,000

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join a well-established and growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy in Basingstoke. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of brownfield redevelopment and contaminated land projects across the UK, with clear progression into leadership.

    The Role

    As a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering technically robust and commercially aware solutions across a diverse project portfolio. You will be responsible for managing projects from initial site investigation through to remediation and verification.

    Key Responsibilities

    Managing and delivering geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects
    Designing and overseeing ground investigations
    Interpreting geotechnical and chemical data and producing factual and interpretive reports
    Conducting Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigations
    Risk assessments (human health, groundwater, and gas)
    Designing remediation strategies and verification reporting
    Liaising with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams
    Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team developmentRequirements

    Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
    5+ years' experience in a geoenvironmental or contaminated land role
    Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance
    Experience with risk assessment tools (e.g., CLEA)
    Excellent report writing and communication skills
    Full UK driving licenceDesirable

    Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, or Geological Society)
    Experience managing projects and client relationships
