How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Fitter
    Wakefield | £17.20 per hour | Permanent | Days
    A precision engineering business in Wakefield is looking to recruit experienced Mechanical Fitters on a permanent basis. The role involves the build and installation of bespoke machinery, working to high quality and safety standards, with occasional installation work carried out at customer sites.
    This would suit someone with a strong mechanical assembly background who is comfortable working from drawings and supporting machinery installation through to handover.
    What you’ll be doing
    * Assembling special purpose machinery from detailed engineering drawings
    * Fitting and installing equipment in the workshop and at customer sites when required
    * Using hand tools, lifting equipment and standard workshop machinery
    * Completing risk assessments and working in line with HSE requirements
    * Working directly with customer technical teams during installation phases
    * Contributing ideas to improve build processes and methods
    What you’ll need
    * HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
    * Proven background in mechanical assembly or machinery build
    * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently
    * Good understanding of machine safety and safe systems of work
    * Strong communication skills and confidence in customer‑facing environments
    * Flexibility to travel for site installations when required
    * Experience with basic electrical or pneumatic systems would be an advantage, but not essential.
    What’s on offer
    * £17.20 per hour starting rate
    * Days: 08:00-16:30 Monday to Thursday / 08:00-15:15 Friday
    * Bonus scheme and company pension
    * Ongoing training and development
    * Enhanced family leave and wellbeing support
    This is a permanent opportunity with a well‑regarded precision engineering business, offering varied work on one‑off and low‑volume bespoke machinery within a stable and skilled team.
