A globally recognised aerospace manufacturer in Denham is recruiting an Aerospace Assembly Operative to join its parachute and safety systems team. This role involves the assembly, inspection and preparation of parachutes and drogues used in aviation safety systems for fighter jets. It is highly detailed, hands-on work carried out in a safety‑critical environment where accuracy, traceability and quality standards are taken seriously.
Although full training is provided, the work is best suited to someone with a manufacturing or engineering background who is comfortable following technical instructions and carrying out precise, repeatable tasks.
What you’ll be doing
Assembling and packing parachutes and drogues to defined technical specifications and manuals
Drawing parts from stores and accurately recording batch numbers and history sheets
Inspecting parachutes for defects and documenting findings clearly
Preparing parachutes for loading into presses and operating presses to specification
Carrying out self‑inspection and peer inspection to company standards
Surveying and repacking parachutes for MRO activities as required
Supporting development work on prototypes and test components
Maintaining tools and equipment and reporting any defects
Following all H&S requirements, including risk assessments and safe systems of work
What you need
Background in manufacturing or engineering
Ability to follow engineering drawings, instructions and specifications
Strong attention to detail and good manual dexterity
Basic understanding of health & safety procedures
Basic IT skills for recording and documentation
GCSE Maths and English (grades D–G or equivalent)
Previous parachute packing experience is useful but not essential, as full training will be provided. A mechanical engineering apprenticeship or similar hands‑on training is advantageous.
