How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Business Development Director

This company is at the forefront of engineering innovation and several of their group divisions have doubled turnover over this last 3 years. Our client is a global multi-million manufacturer of bespoke engineering products for applications throughout the defence, naval marine and related industries. This group of businesses currently have a turnover in excess of £1Billion and continue to expand via organic growth and acquisition. Due to major expansion my client is looking for a dynamic sales winner/leader who will focus on ‘spearheading’ their international sales growth strategy and delivery alongside the Sales Director. The calibre of person is the most important thing; they are looking for an outstanding corporate hunter / leader who can be developed into a Global Sales Director. You will be SC cleared and have exposure to international defence markets land, sea or air. You will have a good grounding in mechanical engineering, you will probably have been working in a highly regulated critical engineering market, such as defence, aerospace, oil and gas, automotive etc. The key to this role is a dynamic can do attitude. They are looking to hire somebody who is world class with an entrepreneurial growth mindset.

    The Role

    This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced international sales leader to further develop their career with a world-leading business and true engineering innovator!

    They are looking for an outstanding individual who is driven and ambitious who can develop an international sales team and manage complex multi-million engineering solutions. This will be a home-based position with regular travel throughout the sales region, global. The BDD is responsible for global new project bookings leading the strategic and operational execution of business development activities ensuring strong revenue growth, and market expansion across the naval marine market globally both in submarines and warships. The BDD will also manage and grow some critical global key accounts which will deliver multi-million revenues.

    You will lead a team of global Business Development Managers; involved in the hiring, coaching and retaining of high performing commercial talent delivering world-class pipeline development, forecasting, commercial governance and outstanding customer engagement.

    The Business Development Director will drive sales and exceed targets you will be part of a highly successful rapidly growing company and team. You will develop the 5-year plan both in new construction project sales and aftermarket. Planning, market sizing and segmentation. You will be involved in NPD strategy and work closely with engineering, marketing, finance and other departments to deliver innovation and competitive advantage.

    Working closely with marketing to assist research, content, events and campaigns. You will manage channel partners and agents, working with global OEMs and complex regional structures.
