How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: English & Maths Tutor (1:1 Support)
    Location: Wakefield and surrounding areas

    Hours: 5-40 hours a week. To be held between 9am-4pm, Monday through Friday
    Pay Rate: GBP20 - GBP30 per hour

    About the Role:
    Prospero Teaching is seeking dedicated and experienced English and Maths tutors to provide 1:1 support to students in the Wakefield area. We work with local authorities and councils to arrange these 1:1 tuitions for students currently accessing alternative provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students who may require additional support to reach their full potential.

    Key Responsibilities:
    · Deliver tailored 1:1 tutoring sessions in English and Maths
    · Support students in improving academic performance and confidence
    · Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs
    · Monitor progress and provide regular feedback

    Experience, Training and Qualifications:
    · QTS (desired but not essential) or previous experience working with students on a 1:1 basis
    · Proven track record of improving student performance
    · Team Teach qualification (highly desirable, but not required)
    · Up-to-date Safeguarding training (issued within the last year is desirable; training can be provided if needed)
    · DBS registered on the update service

    To be Eligible for this Role Through Prospero Teaching, You Must:
    · Hold the right to work in the UK
    · Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to apply for one
    · Provide two professional references covering the last two years
