This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Machinist / Toolmaker to join a growing business with a strong reputation across a wide range of sectors, including Renewable Energy, Construction, Manufacturing, Flood Defence, Automotive, and more.
Key Duties
Operate and set up manual centre lathes to produce high-quality components.
Carry out precision machining, turning, milling, and fitting of components.
Interpret technical drawings and follow specifications accurately.
Measure and inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
Maintain machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Work within a skilled machine shop environment across various industries.
Requirements
Time-served Turner / Toolmaker with proven manual machining experience.
Proficiency in operating and setting up manual centre lathes (e.g. Colchester Mascot 1600, Binns and Berry Trident L850).
Strong knowledge of machining processes and tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Experience with precision measurement techniques and inspection tools.
Understanding of equipment maintenance and care.
Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and problem-solving ability.
Commitment to workplace safety and procedures.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
Relevant technical training or certifications advantageous.
Proactive and solution-focused attitude.
Strong team player with a can-do mindset.
What We Offer
Permanent full-time position.
£16.94 per hour.
Overtime paid at time and a half after standard hours.
Double time on Sundays and bank holidays.
32 days annual leave including bank holidays.
39-hour working week.
