How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit 2x Embedded Software Engineer subcontractors on an initial 6 month contract.    

    Rate: £68.00 per hour
    Location: Bristol
    Hybrid / Remote working: The role will be onsite – a compressed 4 day week (Monday to Thursday is fine)
    Contract: 37 Hours per week
    Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’
    Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)
    IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

    Embedded Software Engineer Job Description:

    We are a world leader in missile and missile systems, seeking a highly capable and adaptable Embedded Software Engineer to join our Development Facility in Bristol. As part of our growing dynamic Software team, you will develop the latest mission-critical defence systems. You will work as part of a medium-sized team and be empowered to work individually with little supervision.
    The role will involve software development and the integration testing of the target hardware containing the software under test and suitable skills in this area will be expected.

    Responsibilities:

    The responsibilities for this role are:

    Development on Linux of Embedded Real-Time software using C++ in a multi-threaded Application to software requirements & ICDs.
    Write functional tests and conduct integration testing with the target hardware.
    Adhering to the agreed Project Planning and Quality processes.
    Use JIRA for project management and issue tracking
    The role will involve working within a lab environment running software on target hardware.
    Skillset/experience required:

    Significant experience of developing and debugging Real time Software Products using C/C++.
    Considerable experience of Rhapsody UML or other model-driven development tool.
    Extensive experience in developing functional and integration tests as well as simulation and hardware testing.
    Proven experience of developing and testing software to requirements and ICD’s.
    Competent with MS Office tools/DOORS, for reviewing and updating technical documentation.
    Working understanding of configuration management tools such as RTC/EWM.
    Knowledge of Python / Ada / FreeRTOS would be highly beneficial
