How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Mechanical Engineer
    Certain Advantage is hiring for a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in the Derby area.
    This role is on a permanent basis and is site-based.

    The Role:
    This role is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer—someone ambitious and ready to make an impact. You’ll be results-oriented and driven to succeed.
    You’ll be leading a small, experienced, and collaborative team, and be responsible for:

    Leading the development of a fluid system
    Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Layout Drawings, Component Sizing Calculations, Component and Equipment Datasheets and Specifications, and other concept or detailed design-related documents 
    Systems Engineering,
    Integration of system design into the wider power plant 
    Act as technical support and point of contact for interfaces and stakeholders The Individual
    We’re looking for people who can show:

    Nuclear sector background or other highly regulated industries such as thermal power generation, oil and gas and process sectors.
    Fluid system design development.
    FEED through to detailed design and EPC delivery.  
    Development of procurement specifications and working with equipment suppliers. 
    Appreciation and application of ASME, European and UK codes and standards. 
    Systems Engineering
    Educational background to a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in an engineering discipline & CEng in a relevant discipline or working towards Professional Registration.
