How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Contek have formed a fantastic partnership with a client in Reading who specialise in the manufacture of high-volume and small-batch precision components for sectors including fluid power, medical, and specialist automotive.

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer with experience in First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and manufacturing quality processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of quality activities while driving process improvement across the business.

This is a salaried position based on a 40-hour working week.

    Role Overview

    * Lead and support First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in line with customer and industry requirements.

    * Perform hands-on inspection activities including visual and manual inspection of parts and components.

    * Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerances to ensure product compliance.

    * Manage non-conformance processes, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

    * Support quality planning, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    * Conduct data analysis to identify trends, drive investigations, and implement solutions.

    * Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal teams and customers.

    * Liaise with customer quality representatives to coordinate inspection and verification activities.

    * Carry out internal audits and QC surveillance to ensure adherence to quality standards.

    * Take responsibility for identifying, reporting, and managing project non-conformances (scrap, rework, concession, etc.).

    Person Specification

    * Strong hands-on approach with the ability to work autonomously and take initiative.

    * Prepare and submit PPAP documentation to meet customer standards.

    * Experience with FAIR documentation and submission (ISO9001)

    * Good understanding of CNC machining processes and manufacturing environments.

    * Competent in problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA).

    * Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and a systematic approach.

    * Confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.

    * Proficient in MS Office and quality-related documentation systems.

    * Self-motivated team player capable of building strong working relationships.

    Essential Experience

    * Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality Technician role within a manufacturing/engineering environment.

    * Proven experience in inspection, non-conformance management, and quality systems.

    * Exposure to FAIR processes is highly desirable
