How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    WIP Coordinator (Work In Progress)

    Pay Rates

    £16.00 - £17.00 per hour (PAYE)
    £20.62 - £22.00 per hour (Umbrella)

    Role Summary

    The WIP (Work In Progress) Coordinator supports the shop floor in achieving the production plan by enabling resources, aligning priorities, and coordinating the short-term production schedule.

    The role ensures adherence to the production plan by providing clear visibility of progress and proactively identifying, escalating, and supporting the resolution of issues that may impact delivery. In some production areas, responsibilities also include preparing workstations to ensure all required materials (e.g. consumables and bulk issue items) are available and ready for use by operators.

    The role reports to the Flow Leader for the designated production area and works closely with the production team, production control team, and supporting functions.

    Essential Responsibilities

    Safety, Quality & Compliance

    EHS: Promote a safe working environment, minimising risks to health and environmental impact. Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and report all accidents and incidents.
    Quality: Ensure all quality standards, processes, and procedures are followed, with work completed accurately and with attention to minimising waste.
    Housekeeping: Maintain clean and orderly workstations, ensuring tools and equipment are stored correctly and clear desk standards are upheld.

    Operational Control

    Clocking & Booking: Ensure accurate and timely completion of time and attendance clockings and job costings.
    Cost Management: Support cost reduction and control initiatives by avoiding unnecessary expenditure.
    Knowledge & Skills: Maintain up-to-date training, knowledge, and certifications required for the role, such as Approved Operator (AO) stamps.

    Teamwork & Engagement

    Actively contribute to team meetings.
    Share knowledge and coach or mentor trainees when required.
    Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to train in other areas.
    Undertake any other reasonable duties aligned to the level of the role.

    Role‑Specific Responsibilities

    The role will include, but is not limited to:

    Understanding the short-term production plan and associated priorities.
    Updating and managing the Line of Balance (LOB) and tactically managing resulting actions.
    Maintaining daily and weekly schedules and work-to boards for the designated work centre.
    Producing daily and weekly reports by combining data from multiple sources and updating KPIs.
    Driving progress of critical WIP and monitoring and resolving WIP dwelling.
    Liaising with relevant functions (e.g. Stores) to ensure timely availability of kits and materials.
    Enabling workstations with required materials for manufacture where applicable.
    Completing regular WOBS (Work Order Booking System) audits, including:
    Reconciling physical and electronic WIP
    Correcting WOBS locations as required
    Interrogating shopfloor systems such as MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to ensure correct inputs for plan execution and adjusting variables where required.
    Working with Production and Movement Control teams to facilitate part movement within and between work centres, including expediting associated paperwork.
    Ensuring completion of the daily Standard Work Schedule.
    Attending production meetings to represent the area, share WIP progress or escalations, and update SQCDPE boards as required.This role involves physical activity. Applicants must be capable of undertaking these activities, with appropriate assistance if required.

    Requirements

    Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
    Basic IT skills.
    Basic competence in MS Excel, with the willingness to develop to intermediate or advanced level.
    Ability to communicate and engage effectively at all levels within the business.

    Desirable

    Motivated and enthusiastic with strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
    Experience in, or exposure to, a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment.
    Experience or working knowledge of MRP systems.
    Ability to influence effectively within a matrix organisation.

    Security Clearance

    This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which must be obtained and maintained. Failure to achieve or retain BPSS clearance may result in ineligibility for the role.
