How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fire Engineer
Location: Flexible (with travel to projects as required)
    Salary: £70,000 (depending on experience)
    Permanent

We are working with a growing fire engineering consultancy looking to appoint a Fire Engineer to support the delivery of a wide range of projects across the UK.
This is a permanent position suited to someone who enjoys hands-on technical delivery and is looking to develop within a consultancy environment, working closely with senior leadership.

The Role You will be involved in the delivery of fire engineering solutions across a varied portfolio of projects, including:

    • Fire strategy development
    • Performance-based design (including CFD and evacuation modelling)
    • Application of UK guidance such as ADB, BS 9999 and BS 7974
    • Supporting design teams and engaging with clients and approving authorities
    • Contributing to technical reports and project delivery

You will work directly with senior engineers, gaining exposure across the full project lifecycle while building your technical capability.
What We’re Looking For This role is best suited to someone who is technically strong, but still enjoys being part of a team and developing within a structured business.

We are particularly keen to speak with candidates who have:

    • Experience within a fire engineering consultancy environment
    • Strong grounding in UK fire standards and guidance (ADB, BS 9999, BS 7974)
    • Experience contributing to fire strategies and technical reports
    • Exposure to performance-based design (CFD / evacuation modelling beneficial)
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and under direction

    Ideal Profile

    • Mid-level Fire Engineer (not operating at Principal / Director level)
    • Looking for a long-term, permanent opportunity
    • Motivated to progress towards chartership
    • Comfortable in a hands-on technical role rather than a purely strategic position

    What’s on Offer

    • Clear progression and support towards chartership
    • Exposure to a strong pipeline of varied projects
    • Close working relationship with experienced senior engineers
    • Stable, long-term opportunity within a growing consultancy
