Structural Engineer (Steel Structures)
Our client is a well-established manufacturer, supplying fabrication and steelwork to chemical manufacturing, waste water and various other industries. This role would be to join a friendly team, made up of various disciplines, delivering large projects, including structural steelwork packages.
Based between Leeds, Wakefield & Dewsbury, the ideal candidate will be local and able to work 5 days in the office, when not visiting customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
Design and analyse steel structures, steel elements, and connections.
Produce and review detailed engineering calculations (including hand calculations).
Conduct site visits to assess existing structures, gather data, and provide engineering input.
Collaborate with design, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure the project’s success.
Prepare technical structural reports, structural drawings, and specifications.
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes (Eurocodes), standards, and regulations.
Provide technical support during fabrication and site installation phases.
Requirements
* Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
* Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in structural steel design
* Proficiency in STAAD Pro Structural Software.
* Experience with Tekla Structures is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of structural analysis and connection design.
* Competent in performing manual (hand) calculations for steel structures.
* Good understanding of industry standards and best practices.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working on complex and/or large-scale steel projects.
* Familiarity with fabrication and erection processes.
* Chartered or working towards chartership (e.g., ICE/IStructE).
Salary & Benefits
This is a permanent position
Salary negotiable dependant on experience (39 hour week)
Holidays start at 25 days plus stats, increasing over 3 years to reach 28 days plus stats.
