How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Data Science Manager

    Hybrid - 2 days a week - Reading

    Up to £100,000 + Bonus

    The Opportunity

    We’re supporting a high-growth UK technology company building advanced AI-driven systems used in real-world environments where performance, reliability, and accuracy are critical.

    This is not your typical data science environment. Their platform combines AI, computer vision, geospatial analytics, and multi-sensor data to operate in complex, real-world scenarios.

    They’re now looking for a Data Science Manager to lead a small, high-impact team and shape how data science is applied across the business.

    The Role

    You’ll lead a team of 4 data scientists (Computer Vision + Geospatial), while remaining hands-on and contributing technically.

    This role sits at the centre of the organisation, working closely with software engineers, hardware teams, and domain experts to deliver models that operate in live environments.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    * Leading and mentoring a team of data scientists across multiple specialisms

    * Designing and delivering machine learning and analytics solutions

    * Working with multi-sensor datasets

    * Developing approaches for data correlation, fusion, and modelling

    * Collaborating with engineering teams to deploy models into production systems

    * Helping define data science standards, tooling, and best practices

    What They’re Looking For

    * Experience leading or mentoring data science teams

    * Strong background in machine learning and statistical modelling

    * Strong programming skills (Python essential)

    * Experience working with complex, real-world datasets

    * Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams

    Nice to Have

    * Experience with sensor data, computer vision, or geospatial analytics

    * Background in hardware-integrated or real-time systems

    * Experience deploying models into production environments
