How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: MOT Tester

    Location: GU6

    Salary: £39-000-£42,000 + Bonus

    Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

    Overview

    We are currently recruiting for a qualified MOT Tester to join a well-established and busy automotive business. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to work within a professional workshop environment, carrying out MOT testing and supporting vehicle maintenance operations.

    The ideal candidate will hold a valid MOT licence and demonstrate strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high standards of safety and service.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out MOT testing in line with Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) regulations

    * Accurately assess vehicles and identify any defects or safety issues

    * Complete all relevant documentation and ensure compliance with testing standards

    * Liaise with workshop technicians regarding required repairs

    * Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

    * Ensure all work is completed efficiently while maintaining quality standards

    * Provide excellent customer service when required

    Requirements

    * Valid MOT Tester Licence (Class 4 as a minimum – Class 7 desirable)

    * Proven experience within a workshop or garage environment

    * Strong understanding of vehicle systems and diagnostics

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    * High attention to detail and commitment to safety

    * Full UK Driving Licence

    Desirable

    * Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

    * Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician alongside MOT testing

    * Experience working in a fast-paced workshop
