How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a large-scale commercial building project with a strong emphasis on mechanical systems. This role is critical to ensuring the successful planning, coordination, and execution of complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) installations, with a particular focus on mechanical infrastructure such as HVAC, plant systems, and associated services.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Lead and manage all on-site construction activities, with a primary focus on mechanical works.

    · Oversee the planning, sequencing, and delivery of HVAC systems, plant rooms, ductwork, pipework, and associated mechanical installations.

    · Coordinate closely with MEP consultants, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure technical compliance and seamless integration.

    · Ensure all mechanical systems are delivered to specification, on time, and within budget.

    · Monitor and enforce health & safety standards across all site operations.

    · Conduct regular progress reviews, inspections, and quality assurance checks.

    · Identify and mitigate project risks, particularly those related to mechanical complexity.

    · Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring high standards of workmanship and adherence to programme.

    · Support commissioning, testing, and handover of mechanical systems.

    · Provide leadership and mentorship to site teams and junior managers.

    Requirements

    · Proven experience as a Senior Construction Manager or similar role on large commercial projects.

    · Strong background in mechanical construction, ideally within complex building environments (e.g., high-rise, data centres, hospitals, or large commercial developments).

    · In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, building services, and mechanical installation processes.

    · Demonstrated ability to manage large subcontractor teams and coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders.

    · Excellent understanding of UK building regulations, health & safety standards, and industry best practices.

    · Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    · Relevant qualifications in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

    · SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Professional), and other relevant certifications preferred.

    Desirable

    · Experience with BIM and digital construction tools.

    · Track record of delivering projects with high mechanical complexity on tight programmes.

    · Familiarity with commissioning processes and soft landings approach.

    What We Offer

    · Competitive salary (£90,000 – £100,000)

    · Comprehensive benefits package

    · Opportunity to lead a technically challenging, high-profile project

    · Career progression within a growing and ambitious organisation
