How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Python Systems Developer required by a growing and highly innovative technology company located in Staines This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative engineering environment, working on mission-critical systems that underpin a global product offering.

    This role would suit someone with a strong background in Linux and Python development, ideally coming from an operational or hosting environment, who is looking to transition into a more structured systems development position.

    The Python Systems Developer will be responsible for the design, development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of systems that support core business operations and product infrastructure. These systems are business-critical and play a key role in day-to-day service delivery.

    You'll work closely with cross-functional teams including Software Engineering, Architecture, Systems, and Support, contributing to a highly collaborative and agile environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design, build, and maintain scalable systems and automation tooling
    Develop robust Python-based solutions to support core infrastructure
    Collaborate with internal teams to deliver reliable and efficient solutions
    Implement automation to streamline operational processes
    Contribute to infrastructure capacity planning and optimisation
    Ensure systems remain stable, secure, and high-performing

    Skills & Experience Required

    Strong commercial experience with Python
    Solid background working with Linux environments
    Experience with automation and CI/CD tools e.g. GitLab CI, Ansible, Terraform
    Scripting experience e.g. Bash, Shell, PHP, or Perl
    Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively

    Desirable Experience

    AWS multi-region / multi-account environments
    Kubernetes and Helm
    High availability / distributed systems
    Large-scale web applications
    Exposure to coding standards and collaborative development practices
