About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting a major aviation client in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-profile, technically demanding environment, ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of critical mechanical systems.
You will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations within a fast-paced aviation setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical systems, including HVAC, pumps, compressors, and associated plant.
- Diagnose faults and perform timely repairs to minimise downtime and operational disruption.
- Support the delivery of engineering projects, upgrades, and installations.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with health & safety regulations and client policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using CAFM systems.
- Liaise with subcontractors and oversee specialist service providers when required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and energy efficiency.
- Participate in an on-call rota as required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a building services or industrial maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical plant.
- Experience working within a critical or regulated environment (aviation, manufacturing, or similar) is desirable.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with CAFM systems and maintenance reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of health & safety practices.
