How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Description MU Tendering Engineer. The Role The Tendering Engineer plays a key role in the preparation and development of technically compliant and commercially competitive proposals for electrical infrastructure and multi-utility projects. Reporting to the Tendering Manager or Head of tendering, you will be responsible for producing tender documentation, cost estimates, and technical design inputs for LV and HV electrical network connections, typically up to 11kV. You will support the development of robust engineering solutions that comply with DNO/IDNO requirements, statutory regulations, G81 standards, ENA guidelines, and CDM obligations. Working closely with internal engineering, civils, and delivery teams, as well as external stakeholders such as DNOs, IDNOs, suppliers, and subcontractors, you will help produce comprehensive tender submissions. These submissions must be technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with client requirements. The role also involves supporting early contractor involvement, value engineering exercises, and maintaining design intent through the tender and delivery stages of projects. You will assist project teams by providing technical clarification during mobilisation and construction phases where required. This is a key position within the organisation’s ICP and multi-utilities function, supporting the delivery of connection schemes across residential, commercial, industrial, EV infrastructure, and renewable energy projects. Key responsibilities • Prepare tender documentation, cost estimates, and project proposals for electrical infrastructure projects. • Interpret client requirements and develop appropriate technical solutions. • Estimate project costs and delivery timescales for LV and HV electrical works (up to 11kV). • Produce technical quotations and bid submissions aligned with company and client requirements. • Support engineering teams with the preparation of electrical schemes, layouts, and technical drawings when required. • Develop tender-stage electrical designs including SLDs, cable routing drawings, general arrangement drawings, and site layouts. • Assist in producing technical design documentation and specifications. • Work on projects ranging from small developments to high-rise residential, commercial, and industrial schemes. • Participate in site visits and construction activities where required to support project delivery. • Ensure compliance with industry standards, technical regulations, and Health & Safety requirements. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. • Support value engineering and design optimisation during the tender stage. Technical Experience • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) for electrical design drawings. • Ability to perform electrical engineering calculations including load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, and basic earthing assessments. • Experience preparing technical specifications for electrical infrastructure. • Strong understanding of HV/LV switchgear, transformers, and underground cable systems. • Familiarity with industry design tools such as WinDebut, Gasworks, or similar software. • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook). • Highly desirable - Lead the development and technical review of tender submissions across electricity, gas, and water utility disciplines, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards, and client specifications • Highly desirable - Provide specialist input into gas and water network design, reinforcement, diversion, and connection solutions, ensuring constructability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance • Highly desirable - Apply in-depth understanding of gas distribution networks, water infrastructure systems, connection processes, adoptable standards, and utility asset requirements to develop robust and commercially viable tender solutions • Highly desirable - Undertake technical and commercial risk assessment across multi-utility scopes, particularly focusing on gas and water interface risks, permitting constraints, and constructability challenges Soft Skills - Essential • Highly detail-oriented with strong technical problem-solving ability. • Able to work effectively in deadline-driven environments. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Confident engaging with clients, suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders. • Capable of managing multiple tenders and design packages simultaneously. • Strong commercial awareness when supporting tender pricing and bid preparation. Qualifications • HNC (Level 4) in Electrical Engineering – Essential • (level 5 and above) HND or BEng in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) – Desirable • Exposure to or training in NERS, WIRS, or GIRS frameworks – Advantageous / Desirable • Working towards or holding professional registration (e.g., IEng or CEng) – Beneficial Desirable Experience • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Multi-Utility Tendering Engineer – electric gas and water. • Experience delivering ICP (Independent Connection Provider) projects. • Experience with HV/LV electrical infrastructure and utility network developments. • Experience with EV charging infrastructure or distributed energy renewable projects. • Strong working knowledge of contestable works. • Understanding of DNO and IDNO technical standards. • Experience in substation and cable design preferably up to 11kV (experience up to 33kv / 132kV advantageous not essential)
