How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you a recent Psychology Graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in mental health, behaviour support and special education? Are you considering a future career in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Counselling?

    A specialist school in Reading is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic graduate to join their team immediately as a SEMH Teaching Assistant. This long-term role offers invaluable experience supporting children and teenagers with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a therapeutic and structured learning environment.

    As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of additional needs including trauma, OCD, anxiety, low self-esteem, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation and behaviour challenges. Many pupils have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and benefit from a nurturing, specialist setting focused on emotional wellbeing and resilience.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Providing classroom and 1:1 support to students.
    Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management.
    Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
    Assisting with therapeutic and restorative interventions.
    Helping students access learning and achieve personal goals.
    Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff.This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate looking to build hands-on experience in a mental health and behavioural setting. The school are seeking a graduate who is confident, proactive, with a calm and supportive outlook. Previous experience working with children and/or vulnerable individuals would be beneficial, but not essential.
