How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:30 – 16:00 (flexible start/finish)

    Syntech Recruitment are supporting a well-established, technology-led manufacturing business that’s looking to bring in a Senior CAD/CAM Programmer to strengthen their machine shop team.

    This is a hands-on, technically challenging role where you’ll be programming complex parts across 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machines, working closely with production and quality teams to deliver right-first-time manufacturing on tight tolerances and demanding timelines.

    Senior CAD/CAM Programmer Benefits

    * £45,000 – £50,000 salary (DOE)

    * Monthly production bonus (linked to output)

    * Private pension (5% employee / 3% employer)

    * 24 days holiday + bank holidays

    * Private medical cover (post-probation)

    * Life assurance (2x salary)

    * Cycle to Work scheme

    * On-site gym, fitness sessions & wellbeing initiatives

    Senior CAD/CAM Programmer Duties

    * Program, optimise and validate CNC programs across 3, 4 and 5-axis machines

    * Develop machining strategies for complex, tight-tolerance components

    * Select tooling and cutting strategies across a range of materials

    * Produce setup sheets, tooling lists and full machining documentation

    * Simulate and verify programs to eliminate collisions and reduce cycle times

    * Support prove-outs, first-offs and production runs on the shop floor

    * Troubleshoot machining issues to minimise downtime

    * Work closely with production, quality and engineering teams

    What they’re looking for

    * Proven experience as a CAD/CAM Programmer in precision engineering

    * Strong experience with 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machining (multi-axis essential)

    * Experience machining aluminium, copper, stainless steel and exotic alloys

    * Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, PowerMill, HyperMill, NX or similar)

    * Strong understanding of tooling, cutting parameters and machining principles

    * Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T

    Why this role?

    This is a proper senior-level programming role where you’ll influence machining strategy, solve complex challenges and work on high-value, precision components.

    If you enjoy being the one people go to when things get tricky on the shop floor — this will suit you.
