How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Job Title: System Test & Verification Engineer

    Location: Bristol
    Salary: Competitive
    Contract: Permanent

Role Overview – System Test & Verification Engineer

Our client is an engineering technology company developing advanced electronic and software-controlled systems for use in harsh, high‑reliability environments. Their products operate in demanding conditions where robust testing and verification are essential.

This role focuses on the development and execution of system‑level testing using Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop Simulation (HiLS). You will validate hardware, firmware, and integrated system behaviour across both new and existing products. Working closely with cross‑functional engineering teams, you will design test cases, execute automated and manual testing, investigate issues, and produce clear verification documentation to support product sign‑off.

This position suits a hands‑on engineer with strong analytical skills and a structured approach to system testing and validation.

Key Responsibilities – System Test & Verification Engineer

Plan and deliver verification activities for embedded hardware and firmware at system and sub‑system level
Build, operate, and continuously improve Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop Simulation (HiLS) test environments
Create robust test scenarios and scripts to validate functional and non‑functional requirements
Maintain clear linkage between requirements, test cases, and verification evidence
Combine physical hardware with simulated environments to validate real‑world system behaviour
Execute both automated and hands‑on testing, analysing results and identifying anomalies
Lead fault investigation activities, working closely with design engineers to drive corrective actions
Produce structured verification outputs, including test reports, defect records, and sign‑off evidence
Support reliability and robustness assessments through test data analysis and FMEA-style activities
Contribute to sprint planning and reviews, ensuring test considerations are embedded early
Interpret electronic schematics and technical documentation to support effective testing
Follow internal quality, documentation, and configuration management standards
Support wider engineering activities as required
Key Experience & Qualifications – System Test & Verification Engineer

Degree-qualified in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Demonstrated experience delivering system or integration testing using HiLS platforms (e.g. NI, dSPACE, Speedgoat)
Hands‑on experience with MATLAB/Simulink and/or LabVIEW in a test or simulation context
Ability to develop automated tests using scripting languages such as Python
Solid understanding of embedded hardware, firmware behaviour, and control systems
Experience working within structured development environments using version control tools (e.g. Git)
Strong analytical approach with the ability to diagnose complex, cross‑disciplinary issues
Comfortable producing clear, auditable test and verification documentation
Confident communicator, able to work effectively with hardware, software, and systems engineers
Familiar with Windows-based engineering environments and Microsoft Office tools.
Benefits – System Test & Verification Engineer

25 days holiday + public holidays
    Private healthcare (after probation)
    Life insurance
    Flexible working arrangements
    Professional development and training opportunities
    Collaborative engineering culture
    Regular team and company events
