How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Company

    A growing construction business, recognised as market leaders in new build industrial projects, seeks an experienced Site Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves managing a brand new project located in Reading, Berkshire.

    Job Purpose

    The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the construction project on site, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role demands effective leadership, communication, and coordination with all project stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Plan, organise and manage construction activities on site for new build industrial projects, specifically new build sheds.
    Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements at all times.
    Manage daily site operations, including progress monitoring, resource allocation, and subcontractor supervision.
    Maintain clear and accurate site records, including site diaries, progress reports, and quality documentation.
    Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, and suppliers to facilitate smooth project delivery.
    Oversee site inspections and quality control processes to meet project specifications and standards.
    Identify and resolve any issues or delays promptly to minimise impact on project timelines.
    Lead and motivate the site team, ensuring effective communication and fostering a positive working environment.
    Manage site logistics, including materials delivery, storage, and security.
    Ensure environmental considerations and sustainability practises are observed throughout the project.

    Required Qualifications

    SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
    Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
    Current First Aid qualification.
    Full UK Driving License 

    Education

    A minimum of a relevant construction-related qualification or equivalent experience in site management is required.

    Experience

    Proven experience managing new build industrial construction projects, especially new build sheds.
    Demonstrable success in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
    Experience in supervising subcontractors and managing site teams.
    Strong knowledge of construction processes, health and safety requirements, and quality assurance.

    Knowledge and Skills

    Comprehensive understanding of new build industrial construction methods and site management practises.
    Excellent organisational and time management skills.
    Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse workforce.
    Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
    Competent in using site management software and Microsoft Office applications.
    Proactive problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    Working Conditions

    The role requires working on site in various weather conditions and may involve extended hours to meet project deadlines. The Site Manager must adhere to all health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment. Travel to and from the site in Reading will be necessary, with some flexibility required depending on project demands.
