How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lead Policy Officer (Green Economy)

    £46,889 per annum – Grade 8

    Leeds / Hybrid Full time / Permanent - 37 hours per week

    We are looking for a Lead Policy Officer to join our Green Economy team within the wider Business, Innovation and Inclusive Economy directorate.

    The team plays a key role in building a thriving, globally recognised business and innovation ecosystem in West Yorkshire, working across the public and private sectors to help businesses grow, innovate and become fair employers. Through system leadership, policy development and strong partnerships, the team drives progress across areas such as innovation, exports, business investment and inward investment.

    As part of the Green Economy sector, as Lead Policy Officer you will lead the development and delivery of economic policies and initiatives that support sustainable growth. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to shape policy proposals, assess strategic options and coordinate major projects linked to the Green Economy Cluster Action Plan. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to wider green economy priorities, including supporting the implementation of the Clean, Secure, Resilient: Driving Sustainable Business Growth Plan.

    The Role

    Reporting into the Inclusive Economy Manager (Green Economy), your key responsibilities will include:

    • Lead the development of economic policies and initiatives to support the delivery of the Green Economy Cluster Action Plan including developing policy proposals, appraising strategy options and co-ordinating of projects and initiatives.

    • Collaborate with a range of external and internal stakeholders, including businesses, to develop and deliver innovative policy solutions that establish a high-performing, inclusive Green Economy cluster that contributes to regional prosperity and national net zero targets.

    • Proactively develop and maintain productive and effective relationships with a range of partners, locally and nationally.

    About You

    You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:

    • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and excellent ability to use various sources of evidence and data to reach conclusions.

    • Strong partnership development skills and experience, honed through interactions with multiple organisations and stakeholders.

    • Demonstrable experience of successful policy and strategy development in economic related fields.

    • Proven experience of confidently and professionally conveying information both written and oral in a clear, concise and persuasive style.

    • Excellent project management skills.
