How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Metrology Inspector

    QA / Test & Inspection
    Location: Ampthill, Bedfordshire
    Permanent

    Salary: £37,000 - £42,000

    37.5h, 4 day working week Monday to Thursday

    About the Role

    Here at Lockheed Martin the Metrology Inspector is the technical cornerstone of the plant's measurement‐based quality assurance program. Using a blend of precision equipment, inspection theory and regulatory knowledge, the Inspector ensures every part, fixture and process is measured and verified against legal, customer and internal specifications. The role operates largely independently, yet collaborates cross‑functionally to resolve measurement discrepancies, drive calibration integrity, and continually improve measurement processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operate metrology instruments (coordinate‑measurement machines, CMMs, optical comparison systems, laser scanners etc.) to perform dimensional, geometric, and functional inspection
    Read and interpret 2‑D/3‑D mechanical drawing
    Populate and maintain QA & metrology records (inspection reports, statistical charts, trending data, deviation forms) in the corporate quality management system
    Communicate measurement findings, trend impacts, and corrective‑action status to Design, Manufacturing, Supply‑Chain, and Customer‑Quality teams.Skills, Qualifications & Experience

    Essential

    Programming, editing and running CMM programs
    GD&T understanding and interpretation
    Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
    Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
    Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) accurately
    Basic problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor issues
    Good communication skills and ability to work collaborativelyDesirable

    PC-DMIS software knowledge
    Polyworks Inspector software knowledge
    Ability to manage changing priorities in a dynamic environment
    Experience with SAP or similar systems
    Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracy
