How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

DHX is the hydraulic engineering arm of Kinetic Solutions Group, delivering high-performance fluid power systems across critical sectors including Renewable Energy, Defence, Infrastructure, and Stadia. Known for robust manufacturing, advanced technical capabilities, and precision engineering, DHX supports high-integrity, mission-critical applications worldwide.

As demand for our engineered hydraulic systems continues to grow, DHX is recruiting a Hydraulic Fitter to join our skilled team based at our Heckmondwike facility in West Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects across the UK and globally, with hands-on involvement in the build, installation, and maintenance of advanced hydraulic equipment.

    Purpose of the Role

The Hydraulic Fitter will be responsible for the in-house assembly, testing, and commissioning of hydraulic systems, along with on-site installation and servicing. This includes power units, hydraulic cylinders, manifolds, and associated mechanical assemblies. The role involves both workshop and field-based work, supporting delivery and aftercare of bespoke engineered solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    In-House Assembly & Testing

    * Assemble and test hydraulic systems including HPUs, cylinders, manifolds, and associated pipework and fittings.

    * Conduct quality checks to ensure systems meet technical and safety specifications.

    * Assist with factory acceptance testing (FAT) and prepare systems for dispatch and installation.

    On-Site Installation & Commissioning

    * Install mechanical and hydraulic systems at customer sites, ensuring alignment with technical drawings and procedures.

    * Fit components such as motors, gearboxes, and bearings in accordance with design specifications.

    * Carry out hydraulic flushing, pressure testing, and commissioning under supervision or independently, depending on project scope.

    Service & Maintenance

    * Support ongoing equipment servicing, fault finding, and root cause analysis of hydraulic and mechanical systems.

    * Perform reactive and planned maintenance both in-house and at client facilities.

    * Prepare detailed reports following service visits, outlining issues found, actions taken, and recommendations.

    Collaboration & Documentation

    * Work closely with engineering, production, and project teams to ensure alignment on specifications and schedules.

    * Accurately record build, test, and service activities for traceability and compliance purposes.

    * Support continuous improvement activities related to service delivery and hydraulic build quality.

    Client Interaction & Travel

    * Represent DHX professionally during site visits and service interventions.

    * Travel to customer sites across the UK and occasionally overseas as required for installation or commissioning activities.

    Skills & Experience Required

    * Mechanical apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

    * Experience working with hydraulic systems, including build, maintenance, or commissioning.

    * Good understanding of hydraulic principles and mechanical assembly techniques.

    * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities across hydraulic and mechanical equipment.

    * Proficient in interpreting mechanical and hydraulic schematics and general arrangement drawings.

    * Familiarity with safe working practices and health & safety regulations.

    * Ability to work independently or as part of a team in both workshop and field environments.

    * Effective communicator with a proactive, collaborative attitude.

    Location: Heckmondwike
Travel: Required to customer sites across the UK and occasionally overseas.

    Job Benefits

    * Competitive Salary: A competitive salary aligned with your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the business.
