A well-established construction company based in the Aztec West area is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of the payroll function across the business. This role requires someone with a strong background in construction payroll and a solid understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
You will be responsible for ensuring payroll for both employees and subcontractors is processed accurately and on time, while maintaining full compliance with HMRC regulations and CIS legislation.
Payroll Manager - The role
* Managing the end-to-end payroll process for employees and subcontractors
* Processing weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on schedule
* Managing CIS subcontractor payments including HMRC verification
* Applying correct CIS deductions and issuing subcontractor deduction statements
* Preparing and submitting monthly CIS returns to HMRC
* Ensuring compliance with CIS legislation including labour/material splits
* Working with finance on construction VAT rules including reverse charge where applicable
* Managing PAYE, National Insurance and pension deductions
* Producing payslips, payroll reports and reconciliations
* Handling payroll queries from employees and subcontractors
* Working closely with finance and accounts teams to ensure payroll data aligns with company records
* Ensuring payroll processes remain fully compliant with HMRC legislation
About you
* Previous payroll experience within a construction or contracting environment
* Strong working knowledge of CIS including verification, deductions and monthly returns
* Experience dealing with subcontractor payments within CIS structures
* Understanding of construction VAT rules including reverse charge
* Experience processing payroll from start to finish
* Confident dealing with HMRC submissions and compliance requirements
* Experience using payroll software such as Sage, IRIS, BrightPay or similar
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail
