How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Estimator to join a growing Midlands-based firm. The company specializes in both Electrical and Mechanical installation and maintenance services across the commercial and industrial sectors.

    You will be joining an established M&E team of four, reporting directly to the Estimating Manager and Directors.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Mechanical Estimator, you will handle all aspects of tender documentation and preparation. Your core duties will include:

    * Tender Management: Carrying out the full tender process from initial evaluation to completion while following strict company procedures.

    * Technical Analysis: Reading and interpreting detailed drawings and specifications.

    * Supply Chain Coordination: Generating and managing enquiries for sub-contractors, suppliers, and wholesalers.

    * Strategic Reporting: Assessing the supply chain against tender requirements and advising Directors on key information from evaluations.

    * Data Accuracy: Inputting data into estimation software and ensuring all internal procedures are strictly followed.

    Project Scope & Working Environment

    * Project Types: Base build and fit-out of distribution warehouses, offices, and commercial office space.

    * Project Value: Typically ranging from £300k to £5m, with occasional larger projects up to £7m.

    * Location: This is an office-based role in Cannock (WS11 0JF). While projects are nationwide, travel is rare and usually limited to proposal meetings.

    Candidate Requirements

    * Experience: You should have a background as a Mechanical Estimator within a building services consultancy or contractor.

    * Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Estimation software.

    * Bonus Skills: Experience with Cypher is useful, though training will be provided if you are willing to learn.
