How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Estimator Manager

    Rochester

    Salary - Up to £70,000 DOE

    Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm

    Morgan Jones is working confidentially with a well-established contractor to appoint an experienced Estimating Manager to lead tendering civil engineering projects.

    This is a senior, hands-on role offering real influence over bid strategy, pricing, and work-winning decisions across highways, local authority and private sector schemes.

    The role

    You will lead and develop the estimating function, ensuring tenders are accurate, competitive and aligned with commercial and operational strategy. Working closely with sales, commercial and operational teams, you will help secure profitable, well-managed projects.

    Key responsibilities

    * Lead, manage and mentor the estimating team

    * Allocate tenders and manage workloads and deadlines

    * Review and approve tender opportunities and submissions

    * Oversee cost build-ups for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors

    * Monitor market trends and supply chain conditions

    * Maintain cost data and benchmarking information

    * Manage tender risk, value engineering and alternative solutions

    * Engage with clients during pre- and post-tender stages

    * Support negotiations and commercial clarifications

    * Ensure effective hand-over to commercial and delivery teams

    About you

    * Background in Construction or Civil Engineering estimating

    * Experience managing or mentoring estimators

    * Strong commercial awareness and leadership skills

    * Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts

    * Confident managing multiple high-value tenders
