We are recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, for our client, to join their hands-on, in-house engineering team.

The ideal candidate will come from a heavy‑industry manufacturing background and will have experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician or Shift Engineer, maintaining large industrial plant in a safety‑critical environment.

The Role:
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Maintenance Fitter), you will play a key role in keeping production equipment running smoothly. From planned preventative maintenance (PPM)to breakdown response and fault finding, you will be working with a variety of specialised machinery in a fast-paced industrial environment.
This is a varied and practical role that will allow you to use and develop a wide range of skills, including fitting, fabrication, welding and servicing.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out mechanical maintenance on plant and production equipment
Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs
Fault find and diagnose issues on hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
Bearing fitting and alignment
Maintain high standards of safety, quality and reliability
Support continuous improvement and reduction of downtime
Work effectively as part of a shift-based maintenance team
About You:
You will be a mechanically biased maintenance engineer with experience working within manufacturing or heavy industry environments. You will enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and working within a busy production setting, along with:
A Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
Experience within manufacturing / heavy industry environments
Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental best practice
Diagnostics experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and drive systems
Arc & MIG welding and basic fabrication
Knowledge of cutting and grinding regulations
Bearing fitting and alignment experience
Being comfortable with demanding maintenance work
