How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Despatch Warehouse Manager

    Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 5 over 7, 40 hours per week

    Location: Leicester, LE3 8JR

    The role

    Responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient warehousing operations within the business, ensuring we have cover for our operations 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Ensuring that we are legally compliant and always audit ready whilst making sure our customers’ orders are dispatched on time and in full.

    Lead and develop an effective warehouse strategy to achieve our short, medium, and long-term goals whilst driving operational performance and developing strong relationships both internally and externally.

    As a key member of the management team, you will need to contribute fully to the development of Gearys Visons and strategy.

    The main responsibilities include:

    * Full responsibility for Day-to-day management of the warehouse teams.

    * Full Warehouse H&S Responsibility

    * Full Warehouse KPI responsibility.

    * Full responsibility for Issue resolution, putting solutions in place, driving a continuous improvement culture, improving our warehouse processes, and effectively communicating changes to the warehouse teams and wider business.

    * Key communicator to both internal and external stakeholders

    * Responsible for escalation on day-to day issues for third party haulier.

    * Responsibility for making sure inventory is taken to ascertain correct stock balances, damages, and expiries.

    * Identify, develop, and mentor talent across the business that creates a pipeline of successors.

    About You:

    At Geary’s, we look for people who show up every day to do their best. We’re a passionate, friendly team and look for the same qualities in our new recruits. We firmly believe your attitude and approach is just as important (if not, more so) than the skills and experience on your CV.

    What we’re looking for:

    * 5 years + experience in a similar role – Essential.

    * Previous experience of managing a warehouse team with more than 20+ employees indirectly before – Essential.

    * A logistic, distribution and supply chain background – Essential.

    * Experience of working with third party hauliers – Essential.

    * Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including Excel – Essential.

    * IOSH or Equivalent

    * Experience of managing budgets up to 200K+ per year – Advantageous.

    * Worked in a food manufacturing environment previously – Advantageous.

    * Knowledge and experience of using Sage 200, Warehouse Management systems or similar - Advantageous.

    * Knowledge of project management, continuous improvement, and lean techniques - Advantageous.
