The company works closely with local authorities and key stakeholders to deliver major highway improvement and maintenance schemes across the region, with a strong focus on safety, quality and collaborative working.
Your new role
As a Site Agent, you will take responsibility for the on-site operational management of a major highway and civil engineering scheme, supporting the Project Manager to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day construction operations on site
- Supporting the Project Manager with operational planning and delivery
- Ensuring SHEQ standards and safe systems of work are maintained at all times
- Interpreting design information and implementing works in line with specifications
- Managing and directing sub agents, subcontractors, labour and plant
- Developing construction programmes, phasing plans and method statements
- Ensuring activity plans, permits and method statements are in place prior to works commencing
- Liaising with stakeholders and acting as a key point of contact for site‑related queries
- Working closely with the commercial team on cost reporting and compensation events
- Coordinating procurement of materials and efficient use of resources
- Maintaining accurate site records, including diaries, quality documentation and as‑built information
What you'll need to succeed
- A Civil Engineering qualification or equivalent
- Valid CSCS card
- SMSTS certification
- Full UK or EEC driving licence
- Proven experience managing civil engineering or highways works on site
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance within construction
- Ability to manage programmes, resources and subcontractors effectively
