How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are looking for calm, reliable and emotionally intelligent Support Worker to join a small, consistent team supporting a young person with autism in the home and community.

This is a 2:1 support package, and the focus is on building trust, maintaining routine, and supporting emotional regulation in a safe and respectful way.

    About the role
You will be supporting a young person who experiences difficulties with communication, transitions and managing emotions. At times, this can lead to behaviours that challenge, including self-injury and physical behaviours towards others.

Your role will not be to “control behaviour”, but to understand it, reduce triggers, and support the young person to feel safe and regulated.

Support will initially take place at home, with a gradual introduction to community activities once a trusting relationship has been built.

    What you’ll be doing

    *

Providing consistent 2:1 support in the home and community

    *

Building a trusting relationship through patience and consistency

    *

Supporting communication using visual aids, PECs and simple language

    *

Following structured routines and “Now and Next” approaches

    *

Using sensory strategies to support regulation (e.g. music, quiet space, deep pressure)

    *

Recognising early signs of distress and supporting de-escalation

    *

Keeping accurate daily records and working closely with the wider team

    What we’re looking for

    *

Experience supporting children or young people with autism or complex needs

    *

A calm, patient and non-judgemental approach

    *

Ability to remain composed in challenging situations

    *

    Understanding of behaviour as communication

    *

Willingness to learn and follow specialist guidance (training will be provided)

    *

A driver with access to a suitable vehicle

Male applicants are encouraged to apply in line with the specific requirements of this support package.

    Training and support
    You will receive:

    *

Autism and Positive Behaviour Support training

    *

    Breakaway / de-escalation training

    *

Bespoke training specific to the young person

    *

    Ongoing supervision and support

    Why join us
We are committed to providing high-quality, person-centered support. You will be part of a small, supportive team where your role genuinely makes a difference to a young person’s daily life.

If you are someone who values consistency, patience and meaningful support, we would love to hear from you
