Head of Risk & Control1 - Data, Ops, Tech & Cyber 1LOD - Hybrid/London up to £100K
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Risk & Control leader to embed and lead first line risk and controls across the enterprise of this purpose driven financial services organisation.
This role plays a pivotal part in strengthening a proactive, inclusive risk culture. You’ll work closely with senior leaders/executives and central Risk teams to ensure operational, regulatory, technology, data and cyber risks are effectively identified, managed and reported, supporting confident decision-making and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Embedding and overseeing the operational risk framework across the organisation.
- Leading first line operational risk, controls and assurance activity in line with organisational risk appetite and governance
- Acting as a key partner to the group Risk function, translating policy into practical, value-adding activity
- Overseeing operational, regulatory, technology, data and cyber risks, including change and third-party risk
- Providing clear, concise and insightful risk reporting to senior leadership and governance committees
- Supporting audit and assurance activity and driving continuous improvement in risk and control effectiveness
- Embedding risk considerations into strategy, change programmes and day-to-day decision-making
Leadership and collaboration:
- Leading, developing and motivating a small team of risk professionals
- Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across the directorate
- Working collaboratively with Risk, Compliance, Legal and Technology teams
Experience:
- Significant experience in 1st line risk and controls within a regulated environment (financial services, pensions or insurance)
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and experience of embedding into 1st line as well as risk & control methodologies
- Experience overseeing technology, data and cyber risk
- A collaborative, pragmatic leader with the confidence to influence at senior levels
